Manifesto is the New Black

Everyone these days seems to have a manifesto.

It all started the other day when I was reading Seth Godin's blog talking about Chris Billeau and his new manifesto about achieving success as a blogger. Before you know it a few day's later Michael Port comes out with a new book called The Think Big Manifesto.

Then today I am on the iContact website to evaluate their email marketing programs and - you guessed it - there was the iContact Manifesto.

The fine folks over at Webster's define manifesto as:
\ˌma-nə-ˈfes-(ˌ)tō\ : a written statement declaring publicly the intentions, motives, or views of its issuer

What gives? Why the sudden proliferation of manifesto everywhere?

I feel like I need to create my own manifesto just to keep up. All the cool kids are doing it...
